Ready to Read Across America?

Friday, March 2, marks 20 years of Read Across America celebrations, held on Dr. Suess's birthday. This is a fun day of activities, programs, live events, and a general outpouring of recognition for the role reading plays in our lives, from babies all the way up to grownups!

A spread from a Dr Suess book: You're never too old or wacky or wild to pick up a book and read to a child."

While March 2 is the actual Read Across America day, many schools and libraries spread the good times throughout the entire month of March with author visits, read-ins, DEAR days, book talks, and more--anything to get kids interested in books. In the inspiring words of Dr. Suess himself,  "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." Reading is fundamental to academic achievement--and achievement in nearly all other aspects of life. Plus, it's fun!
